Roberta "Ruby" Sowers, 53, of Merrimack passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday February 8th, 2016 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on January 24, 1963 in Burlington, MA to the late Louis H. and Amelia A. (LePelley) Derie. She was most recently employed by M/A-Com Technology in Lowell, MA.

Ruby enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading books on the beach, spending time with her family, and playing with her 2 dogs, Zoey and Raven.

Along with her parents, she was pre-deceased by a daughter, Jessica Sowers and a sister, Jeannette Kalasardo, and father-in-law, Lewis M. Sowers Sr.

Surviving members of her family include her loving husband of 13 years, Lewis Sowers of Merrimack; a daughter, Jennifer Sowers of Derry; a granddaughter, Nevaeh Claudio of FL; 6 sisters, Peggy Sousa of Amherst, Pauline Renaud and her husband John, and Anita McQuinn, all of Merrimack, Anette Gilman of Nashua, Karen Derie and James Milliken of Lyndeborough, and Jeannette Motzko and her husband Randy of Hudson, along with many nieces and nephews.

Memorial calling hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Friday February 12th from 4 – 7 PM. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 7 PM.
