Ross E. Hall, 96, of Naples FL, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024.
The son of William V. C. and Constance J. (Doyle) Hall, Ross was born in Waltham, MA, May 31, 1928. He grew up in Amherst NH, attended local schools and graduated from the University of New Hampshire having earned a BA degree in English Literature in 1953.
Ross enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at age 17 on July 16, 1945, and served until being honorably discharged in 1949. He saw duty on Manus Island with the Admiralty Group before being assigned to Yokosuka and Tokyo during the post-war occupation of Japan.
Following completion of his formal education, Ross was employed by the Travelers Insurance Company until joining the Kalwall Corporation of Manchester NH in 1961. He quickly rose to become West Coast Regional Sales Manager which required him to relocate to Northern California in 1963. He returned to NH in 1970, rising to become a vice president of the corporation and remained with Kalwall until his retirement in 1998.
He was an assistant Scout Master, Scout Master and Troop Committeeman of the Boy Scouts of America in San Rafael, CA from 1966-1970.
An active volunteer while residing in Merrimack. Ross served on the Zoning Board of Adjustment, was a charter member of the Heritage Commission and a Meals on Wheels volunteer driver. He enjoyed golf, skiing, photography, literature and writing. He was president of the Hall Family Reunion and published the book Reunions of Hatevil Hall's Descendants - the First Hundred Years 1909-2009.
Ross was married to Frances Jean (Gagnon) Hall for 55 years. She preceded him in death in April 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Jocelyn Marie (Poulin) Hall, by sons, Michael E. Hall (Susan Hill), and Richard S. Hall (Carol Hall), his grandchildren William E. Hall, Michael R. Hall and Allison Hall, his great grandchildren Charlotte Hall, Jacob Hall and Samuel Hall, and by his beloved sister Judith S. (Hall) Fosher.
