Obituary

Russell J. Kuhn, 66, of Merrimack passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday May 12th, 2021.

Born on September 7th, 1954 to Russell P. and Ida (Caltabiano) Kuhn and raised in Bridgeport, CT, Russ found himself drawn to computers from an early age and spent over 40 years programming for work and fun. He possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and branched out into creating new inventions and enterprises, culminating in his ownership of the whimsical Fuzziwig's Candy Factory in the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua. He was always working magic with his hands, be it with a keyboard or tools or chocolate, but his truest passion was for people. Russ was quick with a warm smile and engaging personality, happy to talk for hours with friends and strangers alike. His tender hugs would melt your heart like homemade fudge.

He loved hiking, especially with the ever-present family German Shepherd. He adored his family more than anything. He loved to introduce them to new cultures and adventures, traveling across the country and across the world, creating memories to last a lifetime. His willingness to try new things was contagious; "you never know until you try". There was always a new gadget to fiddle with, a compelling book to read, a fascinating article to discuss, or a Tesla for friends to test drive. He was always happiest when sharing his passions, interests, and loves with others so they could feel the thrills he felt; he would always listen and appreciate as intently as he gave. Everyone who came into his life, however brief or long, was always richer for having met him.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 37 years, Marjorie (Kolnsberg) Kuhn; two children, Allison and her husband Ethan McGarry, and Christopher Kuhn and his fiancée  Christie Liffner; three siblings, John Kuhn, James Kuhn and his wife Lisa Pavlich, and Lori Ann Saslow and her husband Steve; many nieces and nephews and their wealth of memories of "Uncle Rusty"; and his very special "children", the Brooklyns.

In respect to Russ's wishes, there are no services scheduled.

If anyone wishes to make a memorial contribution in Russ's memory, you may do so to The Society for Science (give.societyforscience.org), to help continue his legacy of innovation and the wonder he saw in the world.
