May 24, 1943 – July 16, 2023
Sandra Debus, a longtime resident of Merrimack, NH, and Chelmsford MA, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2023 after a period of declining health. She was 80 years old.
Born in Waltham, MA on May 24, 1943, Sandra was one of six children of the late Raymond and Adeline Guglielmo Tomao. She grew up in Waltham, MA and graduated Waltham High in 1961 and attended the Chandler Business School for Women in Boston where she graduated with a certificate in business in 1963.
She moved to Chelmsford in 1967 and enjoyed bringing up three wonderful children in an amazing neighborhood. The Prancing Road neighbors became family, and she enjoyed playing weekly bridge with her friends as well as being an active member of the Woodbridge Garden Club.
Sandra's biggest joy was being with her family, especially her five grandchildren. She loved having them over to her house for a holiday meal, enjoyed sleepovers and attending their sporting or school events. Her favorite hobbies were antiquing, gardening, puzzle building and giving back to others. On any given day Sandra would be out shopping and pick this or that up because she knew someone in need could use it. A few of her favorite local charities were the Liberty House in Manchester or Catie's Closet in Dracut MA. Sandra loved her group of friends at Parker Village in Merrimack and especially enjoyed morning walks with the girls, weekly canasta games, senior bus trips, welcoming new neighbors and Saturday night church and dinner. She also loved spending time with her siblings, Joanne, Tina and Michael in York Beach, Maine. On the menu always was lobsters and ice cream. Sandra was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Merrimack, NH for the past 18 years.
Sandra's survivors include her children: Karen A. (Uzdanovich Mendenhall) Picanso and her husband Lino of Hudson NH, Steven C. Uzdanovich and his wife Kathleen Burke Uzdanovich of Hudson NH, Mark A. Uzdanovich and his wife Paula Brunelle Uzdanovich of Nashua, NH. Her grandchildren, Adam Mendenhall and his wife Mikela Torres Mendenhall of Prescott, AZ, Morgan Uzdanovich, Colbie Uzdanovich of Nashua, NH and Mila Uzdanovich and Luka Uzdanovich of Hudson, NH. Her siblings, Joanne Tomao of Wells Maine, Ernestine Tomao of Epping, NH and Michael Tomao and his wife Barbara of Bellingham, MA and sister-in-law Tyra Algrove of Nashua, NH. She also has many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Julian Tomao and Ralph Tomao.
