Stephen
Atamanchuk
August 13, 1943 – May 24, 2025
Stephen Atamanchuk, 81, of Merrimack, NH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Born and raised in New York City, Stephen was proud of his Ukrainian heritage and Catholic faith. He was known for his strong presence, tireless work ethic, and deep loyalty to those he loved.
In his youth, Stephen performed Ukrainian dancing and was even praised in New York City newspapers for his skill and dedication to the cultural art. He also played soccer for the Ukrainian League in upstate New York—a passion that reflected his discipline and spirit. Throughout his career, he worked in human resources and later in security before retiring. He was a stern but caring man, one who valued responsibility and never hesitated to speak his mind.
Stephen is predeceased by his beloved wife, Deborah McCabe-Atamanchuk; his sister, Susan Atamanchuk; and his parents. He is now at peace with them.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Rebecca Boutin, her husband Dylan, and their children—Stephen's cherished grandchildren; his stepsons Jon Howarth and Matthew Vincenty; and his stepdaughter Linzie Dooley.
Stephen was a devoted father and grandfather who never missed a chance to show up—whether cheering at skating competitions, reminiscing during family trips, or simply being present for life's big and small moments. His voice, his stories, and his strength will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help honor Stephen's legacy and support his family during this time: https://gofund.me/95a32d93
