Thomas G. Bryant, 82, of Merrimack, New Hampshire and a long-time resident of Westford, Massachusetts passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Janet (Viger) Bryant, his wife of 56 years and his son Paul were with him.
He was born in Rockport, Maine on September 2, 1940. He lived in the Rockport/Rockland area, graduating from Rockland High School in 1958. He enlisted in the US Army shortly after graduation and served from 1958 to 1961 when he received an honorable discharge for his service. He then returned to Rockland High School for a Post Graduate year so he could qualify to pursue a college education. He continued his education at the University of Maine in Orono receiving both his Bachelor of Science and his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering. During his time at the University of Maine he was inducted into Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, and Phi Beta Phi Honor Societies. He also met and married his wife. Upon completion of his college studies, he went to work at MIT Lincoln Laboratory until January 2014.
Thomas will be forever loved and remembered by his wife, his son Paul, his sister and her husband (Annie and Jamie Williams), his high school friend and his wife (Edward and Juanita Grover), his brother-in-law and his wife (Norman and Dorothy Viger), his sister-in-law and her husband (Linda and Roger Wiles) and his nieces and nephews. Thomas was pre-deceased by his mother Elizabeth Maddocks, his younger brother Edgar Maddocks, his foster parents Earl and Mildred Calder, and his sister-in-law Kathleen Viger. His family wants to thank friends and family who helped us navigate the last ten years of Tom's life especially caregivers Bai, Maria, and Nini.
Visitation hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack, New Hampshire on Tuesday, July 11, from 3 - 5pm with a brief service to be held at 4:45 PM. A funeral service will be held in Pittsfield, Maine sometime in September. Information will be posted once the date is confirmed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Thomas' memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or another organization you wish to support.
