Thomas J.
Hanlon, Sr.
April 4, 1940 – August 2, 2023
Thomas "Tom" J. Hanlon, Sr., 83, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, after a period of declining health. In his final days, Tom was surrounded by the family he dearly loved, especially his devoted wife of 55 years, Anna (Mazur) Hanlon. He was also comforted by the presence of his three children, Thomas J. Hanlon, Jr. of CA, Theresa and her husband Don Nelson of MA and Sean Hanlon of SC. They reminisced about family stories and Tom's antics while listening to his favorite music artists, including Nat King Cole and Connie Francis.
Tom took great delight in being with his family, especially participating in the lives of his two granddaughters, Anna and Erin Nelson. He was an active grandfather who spent countless hours on the playground with his granddaughters when they were children and proudly cheered for them in their school activities and athletic events.
He was born in Orange, NJ on April 4, 1940, to the late Vincent J. and Alice (Rawley) Hanlon and was a graduate of Our Lady of the Valley High School in 1958. Tom was proud of his family's New Jersey roots and their Irish Catholic heritage. Along with his parents, Tom was pre-deceased by four siblings, Mary McLaughlin, Vincent Hanlon, Richard Hanlon and Alice Marie Hanlon. He has two remaining siblings, John Hanlon of NJ and Peggy Bohsen of SC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom served in the Army National Guard for many years until his honorable discharge. He worked in operations for Lockheed and Bendix Corporation prior to managing Production Control for Amerace Corporation for more than 20 years. When he wasn't working, Tom enjoyed gardening and cheering for his favorite football team, the New York Giants. Nicknamed "Tommy Trouble," he had a habit of cracking jokes and making people smile wherever he went.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack, NH on Monday, August 21 at 9:30 AM.
