Obituary

Virginia (McCarron) L'Heureux passed away peacefully in the wee hours Monday, November 23rd, 2020. She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to Winifred (Dougherty) McCarron and Robert D. McCarron. She spent much of her childhood in Fort Thomas, Kentucky and moved to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts as a young girl. She attended Mount Alvernia High School and met the love of her life, our dad, Roger P. L'Heureux Sr, at a Boston College-Holy Cross football game. They were married in 1958 and had all intent of filling a large house with children - and they did. Our parents started our family of nine in Salem, Massachusetts. They lived in Salem for eighteen years before moving to Merrimack, NH where they have lived happily for 43 years.

Virginia deeply loved her faith and was a devoted member of the Our Lady of Mercy community and she especially loved her participation in the parish women's guild.

Our mom graduated from North Shore Community College with her nursing degree in 1972. She was a passionate and dedicated emergency room nurse, working at Salem Hospital, Lynn Union Hospital, Lowell General Hospital, Elliot Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital before she transitioned working for Dr. Arthur Fitzmaurice as his sole office nurse for almost 20 years prior to her retirement. She loved nursing and the challenges of working in the Emergency Department.

She loved reading, musicals and singing. Additionally, in retirement she especially loved the social aspects of spending more time with our Dad, taking immense joy in leisurely rides, dining out, and participating in countless Richelieu events. More than anything, she loved her children and grandchildren and the many causes for celebration that brought us together. A hallmark of how mom raised us was the idea that our door was always open and an extra place at the dinner table was always available. That philosophy and love of friends, family and communing over dinner has transferred to all of us and will carry on for generations.

Virginia is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Roger P. L'Heureux, her beloved children and their spouses, Yvonne Carroccino and her husband Frank of Merrimack, NH, Roger P. L'Heureux, Jr. of Hooksett, NH, Raymond L'Heureux, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Marilyn Boudreau and her husband, Paul of Nashua, NH, Marc L'Heureux, of San Diego, California, Tom L'Heureux and his wife Kim of Goffstown, NH, Paul L'Heureux and his wife, Jodi of Tallahassee, FL, her brother, Paul McCarron and his wife, Susan, as well as 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Virginia was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Robert McCarron Jr.

A memorial mass of thanksgiving for her life will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy church in Merrimack NH on Wednesday, December 2nd at 9:30 am, followed by interment at the Last Rest Cemetery (directly across the street) In light of COVID, there will be no reception following the services.
