Virginia T.
Penrod
June 5, 1932 – October 10, 2025
Virginia "Ginny" T. Penrod, 93, a lifelong resident of Merrimack, NH, passed away peacefully at her home after a period of declining health.
She was born in Manchester, NH, on June 5, 1932, the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Helen (Manning) Pynenburg.
Ginny — lovingly known as Ginger to many — lived a full and vibrant life. She married her husband, Allen F. Penrod, at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Merrimack in 1950. Theirs was the first wedding held at the church, and the first mixed-religion marriage there — Allen was Lutheran, and Ginny was Catholic. Their celebration took place at the Lone Star Ranch.
Together, they raised five children, and Ginny loved to say, "I planned every single one." Once her children were grown, she earned her real estate license and later became a floral designer at the Merrimack Flower Shop, where she worked for many years.
A lifelong lover of books, Ginny went on to work in several antique bookstores and later at Book Nooks and Crannies. She completed her career at the Bedford Public Library, where she guided young readers through a teen book club for many years. She retired at the remarkable age of 82.
Ginny was deeply involved with the Our Lady of Mercy youth group and, together with her husband, opened their home to "crisis home" children who were between foster care and adoption.
She was a woman of many creative passions. She enjoyed painting, crafting, and capturing the beauty of the world through nature photography. Her artistic spirit was reflected in everything she did, from her floral designs to the warm, welcoming home she created for her family.
In addition to her parents, Ginny was predeceased by her husband, Allen F. Penrod, who passed away in 1995; her brothers, Joseph Pynenburg and his wife Dorothy, and Robert Pynenburg; and her brother-in-law, Laurence Schofield.
Surviving members of her family include two sons, Allen D. Penrod and William C. Penrod; three daughters, Cynthia Raymond, Rebecca Pockl, and Christina Lovis; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Paula Schofield; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial calling hours will be held at Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
Burial will be private in Last Rest Cemetery in Merrimack at a later date.
