November 11, 1946 – October 31, 2021
Walter G. Charbonneau, 74, of Merrimack passed away on Sunday, October 31 st , 2021 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Lowell, MA on November 11 th , 1946 to the late Claude M. and Ida C. (McAskill) Charbonneau. He was raised in Lowell, MA and graduated from Lowell High School.
Walter was drafted into the armed services and chose to join the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966. He served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1970 at the rank of Sergeant. After his discharge, he went on to be a truck driver for a few companies prior to his employment with Yellow Freight where he retired from.
When he wasn't working, Walter had a passion for building both model and radio controlled planes, Military Veterans, reading, horror movies, spending time near the ocean and in the white mountains, spending time with Family, especially the extremely competitive croquette matches and fireworks during the fourth of July cookouts.
Along with his parents, Walter was pre-ceased by a brother, Leo Tulley, sister-in-law Peggy McMenimen, brothers-n-law Thomas Murphy, Michael Murphy and Charles LaFlamme.
Walter will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 51 years, Rosemary (Murphy) Charbonneau; his son Michael Charbonneau and his wife Lindsey; his grandson Collin Charbonneau; siblings, Dolores Woods, Ricky Charbonneau, Mark Charbonneau, Claudia Dodds, Rhona Wollenhaupt and Alida Charbonneau; Sisters-in-law Kathleen Laflamme and Joyce Murphy, 20 nieces and nephews and 26 great-nieces and nephews along with many friends he's made over the years.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. John Neumann Church, Merrimack N.H on Monday, November 8 th , 2021 at 10:00 AM. Internment will be held privately for the family at the NH State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen.
