William "Bill" Arthur Charles, 72, of Merrimack passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after a courageous nine-year battle against cancer.

Bill was born on April 18, 1950 in Framingham, MA to Harold and Edna (Chambers) Charles.  He was the beloved husband of the late Donna (Langley) Charles who pre-deceased him in 2013 after 41 years of marriage.

Bill was a graduate of Merrimack High School, Class of 1970.  Following high school, he spent a year in the Navy before working the "graveyard shift" for 37 years at Anhueser-Busch in Merrimack.  After retiring as a brewer in 2013, he opened his own landscaping, lawn mowing, and snow removal business.  He found being on a tractor to be therapeutic and took great pride in the work he did for his neighbors.

Bill was a very generous, thoughtful, helpful, and caring man that was greatly loved by his family and friends.  He was an incredibly hard worker who showed tremendous commitment and dedication to everything he set his mind to in life. He was exceptionally talented at working on anything with an engine and could have also been equally as successful being a contractor for virtually any home project imaginable.

Bill had a zest for life and loved being outdoors with family and friends.  A perfect day could have been spent boating and fishing, especially on beautiful Lake Winnepesaukee, or climbing mountains on his side-by-side UTV that he fell in love with over the past several years.  When indoors, he loved action movies and listening to classic rock of the '70's and '80's, particularly Bob Segar and The Silver Bullet Band.  Bill's company, witty sense of humor, smile, hugs, and spirited conversation will be sorely missed by all of us.

Bill is survived by his mother, Edna Charles of Alton; a daughter, Amanda Beaudette and her husband, Kevin, of Merrimack; a son, Shawn Charles and his wife, Kristine, of Hampstead; four grandchildren, Alyssa Brier, Weston Beaudette, Ethan and Ashleigh Charles; two brothers, David Charles and Ronald Charles; two sisters, Linda Poehlman and June Sketchley.  In addition to his wife Donna, he was pre-deceased by his father Harold Charles, and brothers Robert and Thomas Charles.

Services: Funeral services are to be held privately at the convenience of the family.
