Merrimack----William "Bill" Edward Barb, 84, of Merrimack, NH died at Greenbriar Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 25, 2011.
Bill was born on May 7, 1927, son of the late Bartley R. and Lillie Ida Wilhelmina (Baumann) Barb. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Bill was a master of a variety of job skills, working for Phillips Petroleum in Wichita, KS until moving to Spavinaw, OK. He and his wife, Kathleen owned and operated Lakeview Lodge in Spavinaw for 42 years. Bill was active in public service, serving as mayor of Spavinaw from 1975 to 1985. He was also active in American Legion Post 0192 serving as Post Commander multiple times.
Bill is survived by his sons, Michael Barb and wife Cheryl of Merrimack, NH, Danley Heusel and wife Lana of Yukon, OK, daughter Katherine Whitehead and husband Michael of Las Vegas, NV, brother Nolan Barb and wife Donna of Warsaw, MO, 7 Grandchildren, 10 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren,
He is predeceased by his wife, Katheen S. (Danley) Heusel Barb who died in 1999, a Grandson and a Great-Grandson.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held in Spavinaw, OK at a later date.
