Kristy L. Rooks, of Merrimack passed away on Friday September 26, 2014 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire, surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with ALS.

She was born on August 7, 1965 in New London, CT to Betty Jean "BJ" (Paul) and the late Joseph "Jeff" Watterson.

Kristy was a graduate of New London High School in the class of 1983. She was last employed as a Mortgage Specialist for Granite State Credit Union in Manchester.
Surviving members of her family include her loving husband of 17 years, Warren Rooks; two sisters, Deborah Lyon and her husband Malcolm of Groton, CT, and Kerry Vacca and her husband John of Westerly, RI; mother-in-law Barbara Rooks of Nashua; sister-in-law Marsha Gray and her husband Rick of Pepperell, MA; two nieces, MacKenzie and Sydney Grace Lyon; two nephews, Adam and Travis Gray; her beloved dog Maggie, and her adored cat Max.

Kristy took advantage of every season to be physically active and loved to work out. She enjoyed kickboxing, lifting weights, and all types of workouts. She snowmobiled during the winter with her loving husband, and ran outside whenever the weather permitted. She was always looking for new exercise routines and joined several local gyms. She was happiest when running outside with her many close friends. She was especially proud to be able to complete the Wolf Hollow half marathon in Nashua on November 24, 2013 as well as the Greater Nashua Y Tri Sprint Triathlon in 2012 with her good friend Kristine. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed their Harley, and built water fountains that soothed the soul with their rhythmic water sounds. Kristy was surrounded by numerous friends that she cherished.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack for all their dedication, compassionate care, and support they provided to Kristy and her family and friends during this very difficult time.

Calling hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Tuesday September 30 from 4-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 1 at 11am at the funeral home. Kristy's family and friends would like to celebrate her amazing life at Florence's Restaurant at 456 Daniel Webster Highway #12, Merrimack, NH immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Kristy's memory to support ALS patients at the Mello Foundation, 57 Middle Dunstable Road, Nashua, NH 03062.
